Colchester United have confirmed that winger Richard Garcia, having come to the end of his contract in Essex, has joined Hull City after the embargo that stopped players transferring between the two sides expired.

When manager Phil Parkinson left Layer Road last summer for the Tigers, he was forced as a part of the contract to legally declare he would not poach any of the Colchester United personnel.

With that now null and void as of today, Garcia was free to complete a switch to Hull, with whom he signed a three-year contract.

The winger, who scored seven times last term and can also play as a forward, claimed on the Hull website that he was exited by the new challenge which lies ahead and his departure leaves the U`s with only one recognised striker at the club in Jamie Guy.

However, Colchester are hopeful that they will bolster their squad this week, with Clive Platt reportedly due to hold talks about securing a transfer from MK Dons.

Sorry to see him go as he was a great success with you!

Not really spent more time on the treatment table then on the pitch, club stuck by him through injury and hard times, suppose thats how you repay loyalty these days though!

Odd how the transfer embargo stayed even though Parky went months ago! How much was Garcia worth? Have we got a bargain? Hull fan.

He was worth a bit more than a free; maybe 600,000 or a little more if you use the other transfer fees Col U have got in the past as a guide. He’s coming up to his prime, so it’s a bit of a coup!

Embargo held until July the 1st of this year! (Nobody expexted him to be sacked so soon from Hull!)

Can be a good player at times, never lived up to his ptential and can be frustrating to those watching.

Good player – when he scored against Sunderland last season. But his injury rate was frustrating.
