A Daily Star report, as quoted by the BBC, has today stated that Stoke City are the latest club to be interested in securing the services of Colchester`s Scottish striker, Chris Iwelumo.
This latest claim, with Chris` contract due to expire in the summer, comes following speculation that he will not want to stay in Colchester, despite the fact that he recently bought a house in Ipswich.
The latest take is that Iwelumo, 28 and a former Stoke player, will wait until the summer before committing his future to the Essex side, after his U`s team-mates Pat Baldwin and Karl Duguid recently committed their future to the club.
Stoke, along with Ipswich and Hearts, have all been linked with the striker, who has netted 37 goals since joining Colchester in 2005.

if he goes i think you could lose a hell of a lot of players though and end up like luton did this year !
I do hope not; I’ve just read that “he was at Hillsborough” last weekend. (I doubt that, since he was in Stoke, and at Rushand and Diamons with the boys training the previous day). I wish he would hurry up and re-sign!
If Stoke make the playoffs and promotion who knows what he will do.
That’s a good point; perhaps he’s undecided! I dout that George Williams will have a 10% clause in his contract like Mr Newell though! I personally think he will stay – is he in the Scotland squad yet?
The other things about Iwelumo; he’ll prob want higher wages, that U’s can’t afford.
He also wants in the Scottish National side a move to Hearts may be on!
