Hull City boss Phil Brown today confirmed the Humberside club will not be offering a contract to ex-Middlesbrough front man Malcolm Christie, reportedly a target for Colchester United in the close season.

Peterborough-born Christie, 28, endured an injury plagued time with Middlesbrough, breaking his leg twice, leading to him making just under 50 appearances in four years on Tyneside. Christie, who made his Premier League debut back in 1999, has just finished a trial spell with Championship side Hull.

In the summer however it was alleged in the media that Colchester were tracking the former Derby County striker.

Now a move could be back on with Phil Brown deciding against signing him and Colchester currently suffering a striker shortage.

Even though the transfer window is shut at present Christie – a free agent since June -is available to sign outside the transfer window.
