Former Colchester, Reading, Charlton Sunderland & Sheffield United defender Greg Halford is set to sign for Wolves.

He could link-up with former Colchester player, Chris Iwelumo, for as little as £2 million.

The versatile player had been linked with a permanent switch to Sheffield United after featuring prominently while on loan in the 2008-9 season.

Halford, now 24, left Colchester United in January 2007 for a fee of £2 million, with a sell-on clause of £500,000.

United got that money when Roy Keane made Halford Sunderland`s first signing following promotion to the Premiership two years ago.

At the time, Halford claimed the move from Reading was forced upon him but is thought to be keen on proving himself in England`s top-flight and could get that chance with newly-promoted Wolves.

Would Halford make a good Wolves signing?

Well, hasn’t quite cut in it in the PL so far. Good luck to him!

I think there has been other issues concerning Halford which is why he has fallen out at Reading and Sunderland.

    What ‘issues’ would those be??!??!??!??

Just be unlucky. This he did well last season and now he’s taking a chance again with Wolves!

Looks set to be a bit of a ‘journeyman’ and flit between the yo-yo clubs of the premiership and championship
