Give them Wat for-d

Four games, four defeats. Ouch. Only Sunderland`s woes keep us from the foot of the table.

Losing “bravely” has been a bit of a Col U signature for, well? for as long as I can remember. Being beaten away from home by West Brom is no shame though. Likewise losing at St. Andrews on the opening day.

Losing at home to Barnsley at Plymouth, that really stung though.

Barnsley are 8th now. They finished behind us in League One, remember? Maybe they`ve had ‘easier` games (against us for a start!). They`ve also had that rub-of-the-green which has eluded us thus far. Their 45-minute turn-around against Hull to win 3-2 was impressive as well as lucky.

Sunderland`s struggles were painful for U`s fans as it was Southend inflicting their latest defeat. No luck there either as they flattened the Black Cats and then reversed over them several times with their caravans. The 3-1 scoreline flattered Sunderland more than the Seaweed.

It`s not just a Championship phenomenon either. What about the teams that replaced Brum, Brom and Bl-underland? Champions Reading must have feared the worst, 2-0 down, at home, to Middlesbrough. But they refused to be bowed and turned things around dramatically. Not to steal a point, but to win 3-2!

Sheffield United fared pretty well too. They`ll feel hard done by from their Premiership start as they “only” got a 1-1 draw with Liverpool.

Maybe Watford are the Premiership Col U? They bravely traded punches with established Premiership side Everton, eventually succumbing to a player that cost more than their entire team (Andy Johnson) with salt added to the wound via a ridiculous penalty decision.

Oh – and they got a late consolation too. Sound familiar?

Lacking not slacking

We`re certainly not lacking graft and effort. So what are we lacking? A bit of guile? Cutting edge? Some real craft to go with the graft?

George needs to go shopping. Look at the bench at The Hawthorns.

Take Guy out of the equation and how can George change the game? Pat Baldwin, John White, Robbie King? Great players all, but match-winners? No.

Seeing Ipswich signing up Premiership players like Mark Noble and Simon Walton hasn`t helped my mood. Nor has the raft of Arsenal talent at St. Andrews. Bad enough they`re an ex-Prem team, do they really need current Prem players as well?

Arturo Lupoli`s moved on loan from the Gunners too, to Derby and the less said about Mark Yeates and Hull the better.

Surely these London teams want to keep an eye on their youngsters? Colchester must be easier to get to than the Midlands or Humberside surely?

We need something, or someone to give the team a lift. Does anyone have David Ginola`s number? It`d get a few more female fans in to brighten up the place if nothing else!
