Colchester United today entertain Derby County at Layer Road, with the U’s still looking for their first ever win in the Championship.

The Rams travel to North Essex looking to break their duck against the U`s, Derby have never won a football match at Layer Road.

Derby are presently in 16th position with one win and one draw away so far this season, scoring 2 and conceding 3.

The U`s on the other hand have lost all four of their Championship games, all by a one goal margin and two of which have been at home at Layer Road.

We Deserved More!

‘Every game is a tough game in this division, Okay we have had a disappointing start, but we have shown glimpses of what we are capable of and deserve a lot more than what we have got’

U`s Striker Chris Iwelumo.

Colcheter United Team News:

Left back George Elokobi completes his 3 match Ban, and although John White played against MK Dons on Tuesday night, loanee Chris Barker looks set to return to the left back position.

With midfielder Johnnie Jackson still struggling to shake of an ankle injury, Manager Geriant Williams will probably start with the team that went down 2-1 to WBA seven days earlier, however with young striker Jamie Guy determined to make his mark, there may be a place in the starting line up for him partnering Jamie Cureton.

Player to watch: Jamie Cureton

Although failing to score so far this season, Jamie has been working hard and is a constant threat to the opposition defences.

With his experience and workman like play, he will create chances for himself and for the team, placing defenders under pressure to concede set plays, which we have proven in the past we can take advantage of.

Derby County Team News:

Keeper Stephen Bywater could return after recovering from a groin problem, along with defender Dean Leacock.

The Rams look to be without Richard Jackson who is doubtful along with Matt Oakley and Darren Moore.

Player to watch: Steve Howard

After signing for £1M from Luton in the summer, Howard will want to continue his good fortune in front of goal against Colchester, having scored for previous clubs Hartlepool, Luton and Northampton against the U`s.
