Young West Ham United midfielder Hogan Ephraim has told the media in North Essex that he faced a “tough choice” between picking clubs for this season.

Ephraim, who spent six months with the U’s last season, had been widely tipped ro re-join Geriant Williams at Layer Road only to opt instead for a one-month loan spell with Championship side QPR, now home of ex-Colchester assistant Mick Harford.

The reason Hogan chose the Hoops over the U’s is thought to have been thier closeness to his currenthome in the capital.

Hogan told local paper the Colchester Evening Gazette this week: ‘It was a very tough decision and it was very, very hard turning Colchester down.

‘They are a team going places and the new chairman is very ambitious.

‘The manager was unreal last season and I was able to talk to him about anything, not just football.’
