Colchester United have confirmed that assistant manager Mick Harford has left to join John Gregory at QPR after just a year as Geriant Williams right hand man.
Harford has described the decision as ‘The Hardest of his career,’ citing his health and a recent back operation combined with the need to reduce the travel time from his Hertfordshire home to North Essex.
So now the search is on not only for new strikers, midfield players and general squad members, but an assistant manger for Geriant Williams in his second season of the championship.
Talk amongst the fans seems to indicate that former Eire international and fans favorite Mark Kinsella presently at Charlton after a short stint as manager of Walsall may fit the bill perfectly.
Kinsella is seen by some as the perfect replacement for former Chelsea striker and England International Harford, and to be honest i agree, personaly i would love to see Mark back at the U’s his professionalism, commitment and desire was second to none, he stated some time ago a desire to return ‘home’ to the club that gave him a start in English League Football, after being bought over from Eire by former manager Jock Wallace.
Kinsella is a true favorite amongst Colchester fans and could be the shot in the arm that we have been waiting for this summer.

I could see Kinsella’s appointment being popular and much needed!
Agree; tbh it’d be good if he returned!
Fantastic player for the U’s against us at Plymouth I recall…. a real winner!
Lets hope he comes then, if he comes from Charlton. Would certainly improve your squad
