Heath Vows to Help Out Foxes

Colchester United defender, Matt Heath, has vowed to help ease his former club, Leicester City’s, relegation worries by beating Coventry on Saturday.

The Foxes are currently sitting in the Championship drop zone, and had Iain Hume to thank after he salvaged a point against the U’s last weekend. Heath has warned his home-town club that they are not too big to get relegated, after experiencing Championship relegation with Leeds United last season.

Speaking to the Leicester Mercury, the big centre-back said: ‘Leicester are not too big to go down. We said that with Leeds last season in the same position but it happens. It happened to Manchester City as well.

‘It is not nice to be relegated. I joined Leeds around the December time and everyone said we were too big to go down. It shouldn’t have happened but it did. Any team can go down and that has been proved in the past,’ He continued.

‘Leicester are a big club and they shouldn’t be going down.

‘They can do it. There’s a lot of fight in the team. They have some big games left – every game is massive at the minute. Look at Barnsley – they have had two wins in a row and have pulled themselves out of it so anything can happen.’

Heath also admitted he had mixed emotions when Kevin Lisbie met Johnnie Jackson’s cross to put the U’s one up on Saturday: ‘There were mixed emotions but I am a professional footballer and you try your hardest for the team you are playing for.

‘I spoke to some friends before and after the game and I suppose a draw was a fair result.’

The 26-year-old, on loan from Leeds, also vowed to try and beat another former club, Coventry, and do Leicester a favour: ‘We will do our best to beat Coventry for you next weekend.’
