On Sky

50 years of waiting are almost over, Colchester United have earned the right to entertain Ipswich Town at Layer Road on Friday. With both teams in great form recently, and in front of the Sky Cameras, this promises to be an exciting game to say the least!

Vital Quotes:

Former Ipswich player and Colchester central defender Wayne Brown:

“I’m hoping to be marking Bam Bam (Naylor) at corners on Friday. I’m looking forward to the challenge,”

“Bam Bam used to think that he was the best striker at the club when Joe Royle was the manager. But Joe had other ideas. He didn’t see it that way, and Bam Bam has turned into a good defender.

Adding,”We want to make home advantage count,”

Colchester United Team News:

Colchester Manager Geriant Williams has no new injury worries ahead of the game against Ipswich, Johnnie Jackson looks likely to continue his stay on the bench.

Williams is likely to field the same team that left The Walkers Stadium seven days earlier with a well earned point.

Former Norwich front runner Jamie Cureton will continue up front with Chris Iwelumo, a partnership which has produced 5 goals in the last two home games.

Australian Richard Garcia is also looking sharp and with the help of his team mate Greg Halford could exploit a week Ipswich left wing.

Player to watch: Grag Halford

The highly rated Halford has been on good form this year so far, and with Towns reported ‘Weak’ left wing, Greg could provide the keys to unlock the Ipswich defence.

Ipswich Town Team News:

Ipswich Town look likely to welcome back Sylvain Legwinski, Simon Walton and Fabian Wilnis from injury, Alex Bruce is also available and may replace Richard Naylor in defence.

Billy Clarke may feature at some point in the game, the former Colchester Loanee has been in good form recentley, however he looks unlikely to start with Dean Bowditch and Jon Macken both fighting for the other position up front alongside Alan Lee.

Player to watch: Alan Lee

Former Cardiff man Lee is a handful upfront, however he seems to go down very easily, winning his side some dubious penalties already this season, the Colchester defence will have to be on their guard, and hopfuly the officials will not be sucked in by his cheating.
