Colchester United’s new manager Paul Lambert has swooped to bring in Wycombe Wanderers assistant boss Ian Culverhouse.

Lambert, 39, was appointed as U’s chief yesterday and has moved quickly to secure a deal for Culverhouse to join him at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

Chairboys managing director Steve Hayes told the club’s official website: ‘We have agreed a small compensation package with Colchester and we wish him well.’

U’s caretaker-manager Kit Symons will take charge of his U’s game tomorrow, that being with Cheltenham Town. After that the U’s have confirmed that Symons will leave the club.

Vital Colchester would like to thank Kit for his effort while with the U’s and wish him the best of luck for the future.

I think that you have picked a good manager in Paul Lambert – he worked wonders at Wycombe Wanderers and was unlucky not to get them promotion.

Cheers, I’m hopeful he’s the man.
