It`s a funny old game!

As anticipated by Vital Colchester, now ex-U`s boss, Paul Lambert, has been charged with improper conduct by the Football Association, following his last game for the club.

Lambert was not pulled up for his post-match comments last Saturday, however, which included saying he needed “an abacus” to count a number of decisions he felt were dubiously called by referee, Russell Booth during the home game against Yeovil Town.

Sent to the stands for disputing the decision of the Fourh Official not award a penalty late on during last weekend`s tie, Lambert said on BBC Radio Essex at full-time: “I’m not giving the officials any credence. I’m bewildered why the referee refereed the game. I needed an abacus to count the bad decisions he made.”

Lambert faces rap over the act of questioning that single decision, which saw him dismissed at the encounter`s conclusion.

It`s the second time in a week that Lambert has fallen foul of football authorities – his appointment at City on Tuesday defied Football League regulations, hence Colchester`s compensation entitlement over his dramatic departure.

If Lambert`s notice on the consequences of his behaviour arrived at his old workplace, the Weston Homes Community Stadium, let`s hope the F.A. at least provided a stamp-addressed envelope – return to sender, or on north to Norwich, it can go!
