Colchester`s manager, Paul Lambert, is pleased to be facing Norwich, Leeds United and MK Dons within the first month of the 2009/10 campaign.

The fixture list, published this week, gave the U`s a good acid test for their potential after pitting them against some of League One`s most skilful sides.

“I want the lads to thrive on the big games that we play and take it on,” Lambert told the Colchester Daily Gazette.

He has openly said in recent weeks that he wants next season`s side to avoid slipping into a comfort zone and start producing better, more consistent, results.

He told new signing David Fox that he wants Colchester to walk away with the division title next term.

“I`d like to get off to a good start and that`s what we will try to do, whether we are at home or away.

“It doesn`t really matter to me who we get.”
