Simon Hackney yesterday became Colchester United`s latest signing.
The 24-year-old winger transferred from Carlisle after impressing U`s boss Paul Lambert earlier in the season.
He is on the bench for tonight`s clash against Northampton and could be sent to make an appearance as he cannot play at the weekend when Colchester face his former club.
Lambert`s second bid for the former non-league winger was successful and the boss told Lambert told the official site, ‘I saw him in action for Carlisle against Crewe whilst I was out of work at the beginning of the season.
“I have had him watched since and he is another, like Marc Tierney, who I felt could do a job at this level. He is direct and will add to what we already have in the squad here.”
Lambert revealed that Hackney was one of the side`s six transfer targets for this current window, another known to be Hibernian skipper Rob Jones.
