No Manager Exit…. Regardless!

Reports that had said Tony Humes could be moved on as Colchester manager, and replaced maybe sooner rather than later, have been dismissed by chairman Robbie Cowling with him actually going as far as saying he’ll remain in place regardless as to what happens at the end of the season.

As things stand we’re looking very much likely to be relegated into League 2 but Cowling has told the BBC that as he’s ‘extremely pleased’ with the job that Humes has done this season he’ll be the U’s manager next season regardless….

‘Tony is the manager of Colchester, I’m extremely pleased with what he’s doing.

‘He’s going to be the manager next season.’

Alan Devonshire, the former manager of Conference outfit Braintree, became available last week and had been linked with the managers job at the Weston Homes Community Stadium but Cowling ‘categorically denied’ this saying there was ‘no truth in that whatsoever.’

You tend to think that maximum points much be secured from our final three-matches this season if we’re to have a chance of staying in League 1 with Saturday’s two-two draw with Scunthorpe, where we were denied a comeback win in injury-time, leaving us four-points from safety and possible doomed as a result…. We’ve got to stay positive though!

As for Humes’ future, it will be interesting to see what Cowling’s stance will be ‘if’ the worst does happen.
