Parky Joins Charlton

Former Colchester United and Hull City Manager Phil Parkinson has joined Charlton as assistant to Alan Pardrew.

39 year old Parkinson was linked with the Addicks whilst still manager of Colchester, however Phil was refused permission to talk to the club before his departure to Hull City.

Many Colchester fans cite this as one of the reasons which annoyed Parkinson in the lead up to his departure to the Tigers.

Parkinson told the club’s official website: ‘This is a fantastic opportunity for me and I am really looking forward to working with Alan Pardew, for whom I have the utmost respect.

‘With the right level of commitment and application by everyone connected with the club, I believe we can stay up this season. All my energies will be focused on that objective.’

Pardew added: ‘While Phil is in between jobs I have taken the opportunity to bring him here until the end of the season.

‘I know he can make a difference in terms of his knowledge and his passion to try and keep us in the Premier League.’

Vital Colchester wish Phil the very best of luck at Charlton.
