Colchester United’s Greg Halford has pledged not to sign for any of Colchesters Championship rivals when the transfer window reopens in January.

Colchester rejected a £1.2 Million Bid in the summer for the Chelmsford born 21 year old utility player from Sheffield United.

Halford however is still transfer listed and has made it clear what his ambition is saying,’It’s the premiership or nothing’

adding ‘Obviously if Real Madrid or Barcelona came in for me I would be willing to talk’

‘Football is a selfish game and you have to look after yourself sometimes. I want to progress to the highest possible level.’

Greg expressed his wish to play in the up coming U21’s European Championship, feeling his chances would be doubled if he was playing in the premiership.

‘Ultimatley I would like to get into the full National Squad and if I can get into the Premiership sooner rather than later then that will help my chances’.

When asked about Colchester’s first season in the Championship, Greg said, ‘The team have been magnificent all season.

We at Vital Colchester wish Greg all the best in his quest to better himself, however feel that a move to Sheffield United may cut his dream short and that he should set his sights higher on a more established Premiership outfit.
