Latest Colchester signing Franck Queudrue admitted he was lured to Essex because Aidy Boothroyd`s side still have plenty to play for in League One.
‘That`s one of the big things that brought me here and when I spoke to Aidy about it, he really drove me to come here, actually. It`s always exiting to play in those situations.
“I hope I can bring enough quality and enough experience to drive us forward and win promotion,” he said.
The long-time top-flight full-back, who has worn jerseys for Middleborough, Fulham and Birmingham City over an eight-year stay in England, joined for the remainder of the season as United bid to sure-up their relatively inexperienced defence.
The deal was struck as Colchester enter a key period without regular full-back, Marc Tierney.
While injury has limited Queudrue’s appearances this season, the Frenchman added in a pledge to the U`s official site that he will give everything to ensure United stay in the top six until May – they have not been any lower than that so far this term.
“I give everything when I sign for a club – you will see.”
He contends for a Colchester starting place for this weekend`s tie against Wycombe having not played a competitive match since October. .
