Vital U’s rounds up all Tuesday`s manager news, in a final (five-strong) countdown. Can you believe it`s only been a forthright since Paul Lambert went to Norwich? It seems like so much…

…and I`ll let you finish that sentence, the choices being either longer or shorter.

Anyway, here`s a round-up on the day Aidy B… I mean, three remaining candidates for Colchester`s vacant managerial position battled it out in the media.

I say that, instead of in reality, because the Daily Mail told a worldwide audience Boothroyd has already agreed to become manager in private yesterday.

Officially, however, Ronnie Moore and Peter Taylor were amongst the remaining candidates for the job, although the East Anglian Daily Times said Colin Calderwood today were also still contending.

But and – ah, the almost conclusive proof, dear reader, that this long-time process is finally drawing to a close the same newspaper stated that the main name in the frame would be conspicuously following his the fortunes of his club-elect at the evening Johnston Paint Trophy game.

Cue an Aidy Boothroyd appearance, confi
rmed by BBC Radio Essex; unless he is following Robbie Cowling around in hope of securing some alternative from of employment, he`s defiantly the man.

He`s been seen once, twice and three times a Colchester games in very recent times.

It`s all-to-much to be a simple decoy of coincidence – my inhibitions have zoomed on through from chance to making Boothroyd an absolute nailed-on-certainty as the club`s next boss.

Ears to the ground and all eyes on the CUFC official site, tomorrow, people!

Smoke and mirrors or a very real deal? Stay tuned!
