Club captain Chris Coyne has revealed he realises Colchester’s stance over his international endeavors.

The U’s centre-half has missed large parts of the season, due to featuring for his country Australia, as well as being injured.

Coyne told the Daily Gazette: ‘I completely understand the club`s stance.

‘I`ve sat down and spoken to the manager about it and he has every right to voice his concerns.’

The 30-year-old joined from Luton Town just over 12-months ago and still has a while to run on his U’s contract.

He went on: ‘They pay my wages and they`re who I`m contracted to for another two-and-a-half years.

‘I`ve been unavailable for large amounts of this season but when it comes to club and country, I know where my bread is buttered.’

However, Coyne is still keen to continue playing for the Socceroos and hopeful of featuring in next year’s World Cup.

‘But the honour of pulling on that green and gold shirt is something that I`ve always worked hard for,’ Coyne concluded.

So what do you think about Coyne and his international commitments?
