Talks Hit Dead-‘Lock’?

Talk suggests that negotiations between Matt Lockwood and the U’s had hit a deadlock towards the end of last week.

The U’s have had a bid believed to be around £100,000 excepted by Lockwood’s current club, Nottingham Forest, but talks between the player and the U’s are dragging on. U’s officials will continue to try to and thrash out a deal this week.

U’s chief executive Marie Partner told My Football Writer: ‘Nothing else has happened on Matt Lockwood but I think anybody in football knows that negotiations in football aren’t done overnight.

‘It always takes a long time and we believe – as most clubs will this close season – that you should play your cards close to your chest.

‘So until such time there’s a deal all agreed there, nobody will come out and say he’s either signed or decided not to.

‘It is early, we’re only three weeks or so past the end of the season but at the same time we’re trying to get out there with our shopping trolley and see what we can do.’

So is the deal off? Are the U’s looking elsewhere? We want to know YOUR thoughts?
