Teddy Sheringham will use his pulling power within the game to attract more big-name superstars to the Colchester United, starting, he hopes, with a call to former loanee and West Ham man, Hogan Ephraim.
England Under-19 starlet Ephraim, who spent much of last season at Colchester operating as a wide player, admitted that Sheringham was his idol while in Essex, sighting him as the man he looked up to most a role model when the pair trained together at Upton Park.
Following Teddy`s well-documented transfer on to Colchester Wednesday, however, and speculation that Ephraim will be limited to sparse first-team chances in the Premiership next term, Sheringham is hopeful he can help engineer an agreement that might see Ephraim back in stripes before August`s big kick-off.
During Wednesday`s media briefing, Shringham told reporters, including representatives on behalf of this website: β I`ll be having a chat with him if he hasn`t already decided to come back.β
βHe`s a great little player.β
