This Saturday goes down in history for everyone concerned with Colchester United Football Club, for we are for the first time playing our first ever game in the second tier of English Football.

Birmingham City Team News:

Our opponents for Saturday have been very busy in the transfer market with Cameron Jerome, Bruno Ngotty, Fabrice Muamba and our very own Neil Danns all in line to make their debut against the U`s on Saturday.

Radhi Jaidi will not be playing although Birmingham have received his work permit.

Bruce said: ‘It would be wrong for me to include Jaidi even though he has got his work permit through because yesterday was his first day of training since playing in the World Cup for Tunisia. He could possibly be involved against Sunderland but we will look at him physically.’

Player to watch: Neil Danns

It will be an emotional Day for the much loved Danns and the away support will finaly get their chance to say goodbye, a true Layer Road Legend.

Colchester United Team News:

The U`s will take to the field at St Andrews on Saturday in what will be a difficult challenge at former Premiership Side Birmingham City. It promises to be an interesting encounter, not least due to the reunion with Danns, who was a hugely popular player in his time at Layer Road.

This, is the highest position our club have ever found themselves, thanks mainly to the long departed Phil Parkinson and the now Manager Geriant Williams, his former right hand man.

The team has seen the loss of midfield general Neil Danns who left in the summer for 500k to Saturday`s opponents Birmingham City, Sam Stockley, Gareth Williams, Tony Thorpe, Stephen Hunt have all been released or allowed to go on a free transfer and Liam Chilvers who left to join PNE.

U’s: Davison, Gerken, White, Baldwin, Brown, Richards, Elokobi, Halford, King, Watson, Izzet, Jackson, Duguid, Garcia, Cureton, Iwelumo, Guy

Player to watch: Kevin Watson

Coming the other way we have Johnnie Jackson from Spurs to fill the void left by Neil Danns in Midfield and Jamie Cureton to partner Chris Iwelumo up front.
