COLCHESTER UNITED have swooped to sign Neal Trotman on a one month emergency loan agreement.

The 6ft 2in defender joins the U’s from Championship promotion-chasers Preston North End, to make it two signings today. Vital Colchester reported a little earlier that Ashley Vincent had completed his move, to read the article, click here.

Manager Paul Lambert was keen to bring in another centre-half after Paul Reid’s injury, along with Matt Heath being out on loan and Chris Coyne’s international commitments, had left the U’s short.

The 22-year-old joined North End in January of last year, for a fee of £500,000, from Oldham. Trotman was quick to impress at Boundary Park after only a handful of appearances in a Latics’ shirt.

However, Trotman has failed to hold down a regular place in Alan Irvine’s side, so a move to the Weston Homes Community Stadium in search of first-team football is good for both teams.

Trotman could make his U’s debut against Leicester this coming weekend, as the U’s look re-light their play-off push.

Vital Colchester would like to welcome Neal and wish him the best of luck in his time with the U’s.

So are you pleased with Trotman joining? Or would you like to see someone with more experience?
