Colchester United eased to a comfortable pre-season victory over German side Troisdorf FC.

The U’s ran out 3-0 winners and return to England with a 100% pre-season record following a tough week’s stay at training camp Sportschule Hennef.

With under a minute gone recent signing, winger-cum-striker Ashley Vincent, powerfully fired the U’s ahead after meeting a Marc Tierney cross.

As Paul Lambert’s U’s side dominated the opening stages, they doubled their advantage. A neat passing move, which involved a midfield triallist, resulted in David Fox placing the ball home from just inside the area.

And as the clock ticked towards ninety-minutes, Kem Izzet and Clive Platt cleverly combined for front-man Scott Vernon to arrow in the U’s third.

Now the U’s squad return to England in good shape to face Premier League side Aston Villa at the Community Stadium.
