Colchester United were held to a disappointing pre-season draw by non-league side Braintree Town.
The U’s failed to really test the Town defence throughout the 90 minutes, with a lack of attacking threat and creativity.
Anthony Wordsworth’s first-half curling free-kick narrowly swung wide of the back post and Ashley Vincent saw his close range effort saved in the game’s best chances.
John Ward’s U’s side will now to look for a more convincing performance in their remaining pre-season friendlies ahead of the new season’s kick-off.
