U`s Hope On Perkins Transfer U-turn

Here`s hoping Colchester United will maintain their bullish stance on the David Perkins transfer request.

Sky Sports played catch-up today, after Vital lodged an article about the surprise demand shortly after last Saturday`s MK Dons loss, but had some interesting quotes from Chief Executive Steve Bradshaw to air.

He echoed manager manager Joe Dunne`s initial thoughts in suggesting midfielder Perkins may yet be prepared to change his mind and stay with the club, a refreshing attitude given that they last week let Dean Hammond and Johnnie Jackson leave without much apparent resistance.

The U`s also underlined that they will not sell short this time, unlike in the case of Jackson`s Notts County move, where the previosuly popular player was given a free transfer.

Bradshaw – a very busy man these last few days – said, via the official website: “David understands that any transfer would have a financial element to it, as he was bought by the football club for a six-figure fee only 12 months ago. He is also absolutely committed to taking every playing opportunity whilst he is here.”

Although the phrase ‘absolute commitment` isn`t the phase that would normally describe someone who has just asked to leave, you get the point.

He`s staying, for now, barring some hard bargaining beofre the current transfer window soon slams shut.
