U`s Plan Platt Workout Prior To Saturday

Colchester United caretaker, Joe Dunne, has confirmed that striker Clive Platt is back in contention for a start against Leeds United this weekend.

Dunne however has allayed fears that Platt -who was suspended for three games – will be chronically short of match-fitness prior to the game, saying on BBC Radio Essex that he could feature in a midweek match as preparation.

The club have to plan a special workout for the striker because Combination Reserve League football does not kick in until next month.

Meanwhile, Lee Beevers` shoulder injury during the weekend loss to MK Dons has been assessed and is not as serious as first feared and he is expected to be fit.

Platt will challenge Kevin Lisbie and Scott Vernon for a start, while Beevers must prove himself to prevent either Alan Maybury or Phil Ifil getting the nod at right-back.
