PAUL LAMBERT believes his Colchester United side should not have lost against Leyton Orient yesterday.

Clive Platt’s first half header had put the U’s ahead but the game eventually finished in a 2-1 loss. To read Vital Colchester’s match report, click here.

Lambert admitted, post-match: ‘We should not have got beaten today.

‘There wasn’t much to choose between the two teams, although I thought we were excellent in the first half. We couldn’t do much about their goal (Charlie Daniels) because it was a great free-kick,’
he commented.

Pacy attacking trio Simon Hackney, Ashley Vincent and Lewis Gobern were all substituted in the second period due to a lack of match fitness. The Scotsman felt that this had a major impact on the game.

‘We had a lot of dominance of the game, but when we lost our three quick lads in the second-half, that changed the game. We need that pace in the team,’ he concluded.

Meanwhile, former U’s boss Geraint Williams, now impressing with the O’s, revealed the win was no more special despite coming against his old employers.

He said: ‘The win is not any sweeter, just because it’s against Colchester. I had 10 fantastic years at Colchester and I still get on very well with (U’s chairman) Robbie Cowling. We shook hands at the end of the match.’

So do you agree with Lambert? Or do you think different?
