Colchester`s County Council Cabinet have, within the last seven days, approved proposals to lavish further funding on the Football Club`s new £14 million Stadium, due to completed in the summer.

The Cuckoo Farm development, which has spent more than a decade as a mere blueprint, is now nearing fruition and will be ready for the first weekend of next season, 2008-9.

The extra proposals, on top of the current plans for a 10,000 all-seater arena, include measures to ease congestion during the matchday travel rush, and well as creation of energy for the club console via renewable sources.

In the local press, Councillor Brain Jarvis, who has previously come under-fire from local MP and avid fan Bob Russell, said: “We want to make every effort possible to ensure the Colchester Community Stadium project is as sustainable as possible.”
