Very Strange Decision: Virgo

Colchester United’s on-loan defender Adam Virgo blasted the sending-off of Phil Ifil…

‘I can’t believe that he was sent off. The gaffer (Geraint Williams) went in to see the referee at half-time, and was told that Phil (Ifil) had been sent off for violent conduct,’ he told the EADT, post match.

‘But I had a good view of it. The lad (Frazier Campbell) just ran across Phil. Their legs were caught up and he didn’t deliberately trip him up, nor was he the last man.

‘It was a very strange decision. I thought the referee’s performance was later summed up when Johnnie Jackson committed a foul, only for Matt Heath to be booked,!’ Virgo explained.

‘Things have not been going for us, and lady luck has not been shining on us. It’s looking bleaker and bleaker with every match, but we’re staying positive.’

Maybe the ref disagreed with Hasselbaink’s red card on Saturday! Tough luck U’s, keep battling….
