Colchester United`s ninth summer arrival Adam Virgo has told the local press in Essex that the Micky Adams` presence as number two tempted the former Brighton, Coventry and Celtic man to accept the six-month loan contract.
Virgo, 24, had already worked with Adams last season at Coventry City in the Championship and in the player`s hometown outfit Brighton and Hove Albion.
The player revealed in today`s Colchester Evening Gazette: “Micky Adams has been my mentor for a long time and he gave me my professional debut for Brighton.
“Working with him turned out to be an advantage for me at Coventry and I hope it will here.” The player, who has been hampered by injuries in recent times, went on to say that he chose to join the U`s over several other sides.

Adam looked short of match fitness but was always a willing chaser up front for the reserves and played the whole 90 mins which will do him good.
He definately has the build of a centre back and so isn’t the sort of striker who will be looking for the ball over the top, but he won a lot of headers and flick ons and held the ball up well and looks like he had a decent first touch as well.
