Kevin Watson, who last week had a pop at a small number of booing Colchester United fans, has recently claimed to be sorry for expressing such a harsh opinion.

Watson, 33, explained in the wake of last week`s 1-1 draw against Plymouth that those who jeer “might as well stay at home and watch Coronation Street.”

Watson had expressed his disappointment over the crowd`s reaction in the wake of that draw, and reminded fans to look at the progress of the club as a whole over few years.

Prior to the weekend`s draw with Watford, however, Watson said: “My comments were taken out of context and were straight after the game. The fans have been great for us and it was just a small minority of fans that booed us.

‘These guys pay their money to come and watch the team every week and we need their full support”, he explained on the club`s official website.

He added: ‘When they are backing us they are like having another player and that is important.’
