Pat Baldwin’s seven year stay at Colchester United could be coming to an end.
Manager Aidy Boothroyd is yet to sit down and talk to Baldwin – who has just returned from a month-long loan deal with Bristol Rovers – but admitted his days may be numbered.
‘Pat has been here a long time and maybe it’s the right time for him to move,’ he explained to BBC Essex.
Boothroyd’s current first-choice centre-half pairing are skipper Magnus Okounghae and the ever-reliant Paul Reid, while the on-loan Danny Batth and experienced Matt Heath are also competing.
And Boothroyd concluded: ‘I now have Magnus Okuonghae, Paul Reid, Danny Batth and Matt Heath who’re all really good central defenders so Pat is fifth in line.’
So what do you think?

VITAL COLCHESTER; YOUR VOICE, YOUR CHOICE!
VITAL COLCHESTER IS 100% UNOFFICIAL – FOR THE FANS, BY THE FANS!
I wouldn’t have tought he would be 5th choice, 3rd or 4th for me! But ah well, great servant for the club, perhaps the time is right..,
No happy! I am a romantic and love my heroes; want Baldwin to say, even if we have better players. What if Magnus goes off form? Viva Rio!
We’re not a club who have someone like Pat sitting on the bench – plus he wont want to!
Makes me wonder if there has been something behind the scenes very much similar to Chris Coyne
