Colchester United have confirmed that forward Ashley Vincent – who suffered an ankle injury last weekend – is ‘touch and go’ for tomorrow’s clash with Hartlepool United.

The tricky-winger was injured in the process of scoring the U’s goal, in the 1-1 draw with Swindon Town, after he was caught up with a number of players during a penalty area clash. However, fears of a serious problem, or even a break, have been eased following an X-Ray. Phew!

And U’s physio Tony Flynn, speaking to the club’s official website, explained: ‘Ashley was caught hard in the process of scoring and was in a lot of pain. We sent him for an X-ray to be sure of the damage and fortunately, there are no broken bones.’

If the 24-year-old attacker is ruled out of Saturday’s clash with the Monkey Hangers, than boss Aidy Boothroyd will be forced to reshuffle his midfield selection.

‘It will be touch and go for Saturday but on a positive note, it is always pleasing when injuries aren’t as serious as first thought,’ Flynn concluded.

Well, we’ll certainly be a miss. Is proving to be a great winger -with an added goal threat! Up the U’s!
