And Is It Goodbye From Guy?

Potentially brilliant but perennially frustrating striker Jamie Guy has publically stated after his Prot Vale trail that he needs a “fresh start” away from Colchester.

His United career has been dogged by injuries since he first burst onto the scene as a U`s YTS graduate, breaking the first team during the club`s halcyon days in the Championship.

Guy was Colchester`s most used player from the bench during the 2006-7 season, as he grabbed impressive goals against Coventry City, Cardiff City and West Bromwich Albion.

Since then, injury and indiscipline have hampered Guy`s progress and he had been set to depart on loan to Vale when bad luck befell him again and he sustained a knee problem.

I need a fresh start” said Guy, in yesterday`s Colchester Gazette. He is angling for a move to Mickey Adams` Vale, although previously expressed a desired to join Dagenham & Redbridge, the club he watched a boy.

I think it`s time to move on and start a new challenge. I hope I can go back to Port Vale and do well and maybe get something permanent. I played a couple of games for Vale and scored a couple of goals. I was feeling pretty sharp and fit.”

Very much a case of goodbye and good luck, then, from one of Colchester`s own.
