Aidy Boothroyd could make former Colchester United favourite Richard Garcia his first signing for Championship club Coventry.

According to the Daily Mirror, the Hull City winger is subject to a £500,000 interest from the ex U`s manager, who it appears is wasting no time with restricting his new squad.

Garcia turned out for the U`s 95 times after joining them from West Ham between 2004-7 and is currently involved in Australia`s preparation for the World Cup finals in South Africa.

The 29-year-old versatile winger can also be deployed up front and is thought to fit Boothroyd`s bill as a potential bright-spark and possible goalscorer.

The player`s chances at Hull last term were fairly limited even after his successful return from a pre-season rupture injury but his career will always be analysed with interest by Colchester fans, particularly because of his performences during the club’s Championship days.
