No transfer news will certainly be good news indeed for U`s fans over the next four and a half hours – besides, they`re awaiting an announcement about the biggest arrival of them all!

Thankfully, for the benefit of a few thousand nervous supporters, the club confirmed yesterday through defiant words from dual Chairman-owner, Robbie Cowling, that no playing staff will leave, either on deadline day, or in future, for Norwich City whist he is in charge.

Rife rumour had linked Paul Lambert with a hunt for new-boy, David Fox, whom he very much admires and recently compared glowingly to former England international, Paul Scholes.

Caretaker Joe Dunne, though, did warn the club last Friday that “the wolves are at the door” in terms of suitors for current squad players – he said it would be a test of everyone`s resolve to stop further departuresm following Dean Hammond`s swift exit last month.

However, Colchester United`s affirmed stance is that no dramatic shifts in personnel will occur between now and the end of this week, at least before they approve a new manager’s firm arrival. He will only have the luxury of dipping into a loan market.

The only possible exception is the unhappy David Perkins, transfer-listed by his own request; any good offer may well see him go.

Even if it should all stay quiet on the transfer front, as anticipated, most are expecting the club to give a green light to their chosen candidate so that he can finally be unveiled as the new manager.
