Vital Colchester will keep you updated with all transfer news and rumours concerning the U`s throughout transfer deadline day.

U`s winger Mark Yeates insists he`ll keep giving 100% to the Essex side as the deadline for any move away draws closer.

The talented midfielder saw a move to Championship side Crystal Palace fall through earlier this summer, but any potential move has until midnight tonight to be completed.

Yeates would have only enhanced speculation of a move away with his performance on Saturday, against Oldham. The former Irish under-21 international struck a goal in either half, to cap a sparkling display in front of U`s home fans.

However, the Irishmen is not expecting to leave the Weston Homes Community Stadium before the deadline.

He revealed: ‘As far as I know, I`ll be at Colchester and I`ll keep giving 100-per-cent.’

Yeates, 23, continued: ‘I`ve had to try and get that (the possible Palace move) out of my head and work as hard as I can.

‘Hopefully, people can see I`m trying to give it my all,’ he said.

‘Maybe a few people have spoken about my commitment and that`s not nice because I just try and play and give my all.

‘Everyone does it in different ways and I like creating and scoring goals.’

I am not, after reading the comments in the Gazette yesterday. Good lad Yeates!

I’m glad he is still with us and would have been dissapointed if Palace had come back in with the drisory £500k that was reported as the agreed fee from pre-season. Given his age and potential I think £1m plus would be more realistic.
