So then there were three – potential first-choice right-backs at Colchester, that is, after the club say Lee Beevers faces “months” out of action.
The versatile full-back was previously a starter ahead of other possible contenders, John White, Phil Ifil and Alan Maybury.
But a change of manager and a shoulder injury have hampered his medium-term chances of returning to the birth he initially occupied when the season started.
He played in the first five games of the season before leaving play after a norrow loss to MK Dons.
Talking to the Colchester Gazette, 25-year-old Beevers said the hurt sustained was far more serious than simply sustaining a sprain.
“I`ve had the operation and it went as well as could be expected. It`s now a case of doing the rehabilitation and coming back as soon as possible. The lad fell on me and it put a lot of stress on the shoulder. I knew I had a dislocation but all I wanted to do was put it back in place.”
He added that he has no idea yet what kind of timescale recovery lies ahead.
Get well soon – don`t be too eager, Beervers!
