Leeds United & Wolverhampton Wanders are both confident that they can edge out Colchester United in the race to sign Walsall`s Daniel Fox.

The highly-rated former Everton trainee had looked poised to move to Essex after a fee of reportedly around £350,000 was agreed between the U`s and his present club last week.

Colchester remain the only club to have had a fee accepted for the left back, but the lack of news regarding his transfer means media speculation is rife that he is holding out for a more attractive club, with the U`s fighting relegation in the Championship at present.

Leeds boss Denis Wise has publically declared an interest in tempting Fox to Elland Road, saying yesterday: “I think Walsall have accepted an offer from Colchester, so we’ll see what happens.

‘It’s public knowledge that he’s out of contract at the end of the season, so that’s the situation.

We’ll stay tight, get on with what we want to do, and maybe there’s still a possibility we may get him.”
