Colchester stunned League 1 leaders Bristol City with a win at the Weston Homes Community Stadium on Saturday. Having surged into a convincing half time lead we had to withstand a second half comeback but did enough to see through a three-two win that moves us out of the bottom four for the first time this year!

It took us just a few minutes to make the breakthrough as Lapslie (3) headed home his first goal in professional football as he followed up when Bristol City ‘keeper Fielding lost Hewitt’s cross.

Before 15-minutes was played, coming back into the starting XI for the first time in well over 12-months Bonne (14) headed home Briggs’ cross to make it two, Elliott almost got one back for Bristol City but hit the post before Porter (26) made it three before half hour was played.

Tavernier’s (50) cross, early in the second half, evaded Walker and got Bristol City back into the game with more goals threatened before Flint (61) headed home a Smith cross just after the hour to make it three-two – we held on though and that’s now it ended.

Attention now moves away from this game and turns to our next one against Doncaster and we are looking for your view on what way this will go?
