Following a good start to the week, Gillespie and Perkins signing, Yeates committing his future, who thought it would continue?

Well, unfortunately, it appears to have stopped…

Colchester United striker Kevin Lisbie has confirmed that Ipswich Town has made an approach to sign him.

Town are believed to have been granted permission to speak to Lisbie, regarding a move, by the U’s.

Various sources are reporting that Lisbie has a buy-out clause in his U’s contract, allowing him to leave for as little as £500,000. This may come as a surprise as the U’s recently were rumoured to have slapped a £1m price-tag on Lisbie, click here.

Tractor Boy’s chief Jim Magilton is believed to have made an offer of just over £500,000, in an attempt to bring the Jamaican international to Portman Road.

Lisbie, who scored a 17 goals last season, as the U’s were relegated from the Championship, has two years left on his contract with Geraint Williams men.

The ex-Charlton front-runner told the EADT: ‘Ipswich Town have made an approach for me, through my representative. There have been talks but I must stress that it’s very early days and it’s not very far down the line.

‘I’m still very much a Colchester United player and I’m enjoying this week’s fitness programme with the rest of the lads at Loughborough University,’ Lisbie added.

Ipswich are the not the only Championship club to have shown an interest in the 29-year-old, with Burnley and Barnsley also making enquiries. The Tykes were put off by the £1m price-tag, as well as Lisbie himself ruling out a move to any Northern side.

However, Lisbie, once again, denied any price-tag of £1m, he continued: ‘I have an agreement with Colchester and a £1m asking price is not it. I have a big family and I don’t want to uproot, so I wouldn’t want to move far anyway.’

A move to Town would certainly suite Lisbie, location-wise and the U’s have a ready-made replacement in, record signing, Steven Gillespie who joined on Monday.

If the Lisbie did make the move up the ‘A12’ then he would join an elite group of players to have pulled on the shirts of three East Anglian sides; Colchester, Norwich and Ipswich.

So is Lisbie worth move than £500,000? Or should the U’s cash-in?
