Colchester United loan star Kevin Lisbie has confirmed a move to the U’s divisional rivals, Southampton, would interest him – although today’s news of the capture of Lee Barnard makes any move look unlikely.

The Saints have been spending like there’s no tomorrow so far this month and rumours of a move for the Jamaican have been on the grapevine.

When asked in the press whether a move to St. Marys is something he would consider, he answered: ‘Very much so.’

Lisbie, currently owned by parent club Ipswich Town, is on loan with the U’s unless a move elsewhere is otherwise agreed.

‘If they are interested I am only on loan at Colchester so obviously anything is possible,’ Lisbie, 31, who has ten goals to his name this season, added.

Lisbie has previously spoke of his desire to sign a permenant deal with the U’s, however, the financial side of things may pose a problem.

He continued: ‘I have not asked to go anywhere. But if you ask any player they would love to be settled at a club that has signed them and to be settled somewhere would be good for me.’

Is this Lisbie’s way of hurrying up a full-time transfer to the WHCS, you decide…
