Dynamic midfielder David Perkins has appealed to Colchester supporters to keep backing the side by filling the Weston Homes stadium.
The club`s record attendance at their new ground game over the weekend as they walked away one-nil losers against rivals Southend.
It actually appeared to make a huge difference, with more than 8,000 packed in the place, as Colchester had most of the ball during the first-half.
On the impact of a fuller stadium, as Colchester prepare for two more home ties this week, Perkins told the Colchester Gazette: “It really gave us a lift. “We raised our game and we played better in the first half.
“Although the result didn`t go for us, we`d be delighted if the fans came back.
“The stadium being that full can only help us.
‘We feel we`ve let the fans down against Southend and that`s the most disappointing thing.”
Perkins also commented how ‘brilliant’ it was walking out to a big home crowd: the side will need all the support they can get in looking to bounce back from a recent run of defeats.

I’ll be there against Stockport, in the cold, doubt the crowd will be very big!
