Vital Colchester has finally sourced the dates and fixtures for United`s pre-season, as confirmed so far.
They come courtesy of the club`s Swedish fanzine, which makes an interesting read and even, in places, mentions Vital Colchester!
The matches are as follows:
11/7/09 Tiptree – Colchester
21/7/09- Colchester – Aston Villa
23/07/09 – Heybridge – Colchester
25/07/09 – Ipswich – Colchester
28/07/09 – Histon – Colchester
30/07/09 – Ebbsfleet – Colchester
As usual, not a very high-class band of opposition for the most part, bar potentially the Aston Villa and Ipswich games.
For many, part of last season’s downfall was the generally poor opposition chosen to prepare the club for the new season.
It has alos been announced this morning that Norwich City are United’s first opposition for the 2009/10 season.
Top stuff!
What do you think of the club’s pre-season fixture list? Could it include a better standard of opposition?

Our pre-season opponents aren’t very exciting either: Palace, Wigan and Man Utd reserves are the pick. Not too inspiring.
I know, rubbish isn’t it? Wigan sounds okay, and Palace. Not very good prep. for the new season, if you ask me!
I know we wouldn’t be bale to see they, but I think it would be beneficial for 1 summer for us to go to another county and compete in a mini tournament or something like that.
That would be good – why not to Scandinavia, since the club also have fans in Iceland?
And Sweden. Many other clubs go abroard, so why not us. We could tour a coutry. It would be a good test, especially in very different conditions
Didn’t the club go away a few seasons ago? I’m sure just after Teddy signed… although I know we didn’t play any teams out there… wasn’t it Scotland?
We’re goin on a pre-season training camp to Germany this year, where we will also play against a couple of German teams I’m led to believe. Due to Lambert’s experiences of playing in Germany.
Thought we need a few more games than this!! If you look at Norwich’s fixtures, they’ve a few more!
