FREE AGENT defender Michael Nelson looks set to reject interest from Colchester United after leaving Hartlepool United.
The hard-man centre-half leaves Victoria Park, on a Bosman transfer, after shunning a new contract. And the U’s, along with Brighton, Huddersfield, Southend and Leeds, appear to have incurred defeat in their attempts to sign him.
The 29-year-old has reportedly marked a move to either Championship new-boys Scunthorpe United, or recently relegated Norwich City, as his preferred destination.
Nelson is one of a long list of defensive players to have been mooted with a move to the Weston Homes Community Stadium, with none yet arriving.
So is this bad news? Or are their better players out there?

Can you blame him? 😉
I think pretty much every club in L1 who can afford him has been linked.
Yep, a large group of teams have been rumoured. Up the U’s! Good player…
I’ve no idea what he’s like, so I can’t be sad we didn’t sign him!
I wonder how many of our targets we have officially failed with so far.
Not sure, at least two. But they weren’t official. And it’s a llong summer. Some to go soon, for sure?
Welcome to the site, Aaron. 😉
😀 On the other targets!
