The heart rates have probably dropped now, with some hangovers cured, following Colchester League 1 future secured on a dramatic final day by Tony Humes’ job doesn’t stop, he’s already made decisions on two players’ future with Sean Clohessy and Dominic Smith shown the door.

Clohessy and Smith, at opposite ends of the experience scale, were both informed that they were ‘surplus to requirements’ today with the Official Website confirming their exits.

Arriving last season Clohessy fell out of favour earlier in the year and hasn’t been involved in Humes’ first-team plans since February and has had his contract mutually terminated midway through.

Whereas Smith also arrived ahead of the season and despite featuring in Humes’ first game in charge has struggled to make an impact.

Explaining the decisions Humes said.

‘We signed Dom on a year’s contract after he had come through Crewe’s excellent academy but he has found it hard to break into the squad over the season and his contract won’t be extended.

‘Sean had another year left on his contract but it was in everyone’s interests that it was terminated, allowing Sean to find another club over the summer.’
