Colchester United manager Geraint Williams has praised chairman Robbie Cowling for supporting him through what has been a dreadful season for the U`s.
The U`s season looks set to end in relegation to League One; after recent results have left them eleven points adrift from safety, with just eight games left to play. Despite the U`s lowly league position, chairman Robbie Cowling last week revealed he expects Williams to still be at the helm come August.
Speaking to The Colchester Gazette Williams said: ‘Since Robbie has been here, he’s been nothing but supportive in everything we do.’
‘The chairman is very ambitious and he’s always been very open and fair.’
‘He has a long term plan for this club that we can be in the Championship rather than to interlope between the divisions.’ The Welshmen revealed.
‘We want to belong as a Championship club – both on and off the field.’
The U’s chief went on: ‘That’s where the new stadium and new facilities come in.’
‘We’re looking to build a home so that Colchester United can become a proper Championship club.’
