A host of Championship clubs are believed to be on the trail of Colchester United ace Marc Tierney.

The left-back has put in a number of finally polished displays in recent months and has recently been offered a new contract in north Essex. However, as contract negotiations between Tierney and the U’s have broke down, along with the departure of Aidy Boothroyd, Tierney’s future looks uncertain.

Boothroyd’s new club – Coventry City – along with Bristol City and Sheffield United are all believed to have expressed an interest in Tierney.

Although the 24-year-old could well be sold, no decision on his future looks likely until a new manager takes over at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
